The existing porch did not need to be torn down or completely redesigned.

It simply needed more useful covered space.

The homeowners wanted an area where they could grill without standing in the rain, while keeping the addition visually connected to the screen porch they already had.

Extending Without Making It Feel Added On

Johansson Builders used a structural foam roof system and powder-coated framing to create the additional covered area.

That approach allowed the new roof to remain relatively clean and lightweight rather than introducing a bulky conventional addition beside the existing porch.

The new structure was then tied into the porch so the two areas work together.
